Air Methods Prehospital EDucation Podcast Ep 18: The Cost of Experience Share On... by Air Methods posted July 25, 2022 Our podcast, AMPED (Air Methods Prehospital EDucation) is back with another episode this month! The podcast, designed for pre-hospital and in-hospital care providers, sheds light on the unique and challenging clinical scenarios faced by our emergency medical crews. It is a first-of-its-kind platform in which air medical and in-hospital clinicians share their stories from the frontlines and learn from one-another’s unique experiences in providing lifesaving care. In our previous episode, we were joined by flight nurse Chelsea Fehring, Rebecca Tracy, DO, emergency physician and EMS physician, and Evan Schwartz, MD, emergency physician, toxicologist, addition medicine, where they spoke about a case that seemed straightforward but presented unique and unexpected challenges. In this month’s episode, the AMPED team interviews flight paramedic Brian Gremminger and flight nurse Amber George about a patient who falls into a rock crusher. Listen in as they go into detail about a day they will never forget, and an event neither of them had experienced before. This episode takes place in the desert at a rock quarry, working alongside firefighters to try and save the patient’s life. While the price of this memory runs deep, both Amber and Brian honor this patient daily with the lessons learned on that day. The podcast is hosted by Joe Hill; Hawnwan “Phil” Moy, MD, Medical Director for ARCH, Air Methods Illinois and Missouri; and John Wilmas, MD, Medical Director for ARCH, Air Methods Illinois and Missouri. Collectively, the three hosts bring decades of experience in emergency medical services and an array of diverse perspectives to the table. AMPED is available on Apple Podcast, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, and more.
