Base partners with hospital in Willcox, AZ, providing emergency lifesaving capabilities

Willcox, AZ – Oct. 6, 2022 – Lighting the engines and lifting the tires, LifeNet in Willcox, AZ is proud to be serving Cochise County and beyond. LifeNet 8, a part of Air Methods – the leading air medical service provider in the United States, served the Willcox community for more than 20 years and is ecstatic to return to the area.

“Serving the Willcox community by providing rapid access to life-saving care when it’s needed most – that is our foremost mission and commitment as your Air Methods LifeNet 8 team based at Northern Cochise Community Hospital (NCCH),” said Kristie Johnson, flight nurse and clinical base lead. 

LifeNet 8 is equipped with an EC130 air ambulance helicopter and staffed with industry-leading trauma clinicians and pilots with years of experience in the field and skilled aviation mechanics at the base who ensure the aircraft is always safe and mission ready. This community-based program is co-located at NCCH at 901 W. Rex Allen Dr., Willcox, AZ 85643. 

“LifeNet has been our main air ambulance provider throughout the years, and we are glad they are continuing to serve our community by co-locating at NCCH,” said Mo Sheldon, NCCH chief executive officer. “With continuing our partnership, we are meeting the needs of our patients, helping to ensure the best recovery possible.”

During their brief pause at the Willcox base location, LifeNet continued service from the Safford and Tucson, AZ base locations. Now with their return to the Willcox community, LifeNet is honored to provide lifesaving care throughout the communities it serves by means of safe and efficient air medical transport when responding to emergency medical calls for trauma events including heart attacks and strokes, pediatric emergencies, and other incidents.

Where seconds make all the difference in saving a life, the highly trained air medical team is capable of lifesaving interventions at the scene and in flight. In addition to the ability to carry and administer blood in flight, other interventions can include advanced airway intervention; cardiac/hemodynamic monitoring; ventilator management; vasoactive medication administration and titration; and other advanced surgical procedures.

“I am beyond proud and deeply honored to be part of our air medical team, and very pleased to be partnering again with the dedicated agencies and organizations who are doing great work here,” said Johnson. “It feels like coming home.”
