Our podcast, AMPED (Air Methods Prehospital EDucation) is back with another episode this month! The podcast, designed for pre-hospital and in-hospital care providers, sheds light on the unique and challenging clinical scenarios faced by our emergency medical crews. It is a first-of-its-kind platform in which air medical and in-hospital clinicians share their stories from the frontlines and learn from one-another’s unique experiences in providing lifesaving care.

On our previous episode, we were joined by Rich Mosher, Larissa Colton, and Dr. Christopher Berry as they discussed how a minor accident on a rural farm can have a butterfly effect and cause an impact so great that it affects how first responders do their jobs in the state of New York.

A mantra of the Navy SEALS is, “Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast.” It’s a reminder to approach any situation with deliberate and careful consideration and that the quickest route to complete a task is to be methodical and slow. When presented with a patient who attempted suicide via shotgun to the face, the team is faced with difficult, complex choices that require steady nerves, quick decision-making, and reliance on preparation and teamwork. Our team is joined by: Brian Harrison, EMT-P, Zak Saxton, RN, and Brian Gremminger, EMT-P.
