Open positions available at multiple bases across Illinois and Missouri

St. Louis, MO, Aug, 2 2024 – Air Methods, the leading air medical service provider in the U.S, is hosting a hiring event for experienced helicopter pilots, paramedics, critical care nurses and mechanics on August 22 in St. Louis. This event aims to fill positions at four of the seven bases under the ARCH Air Medical program, which is celebrating 45 years of providing lifesaving air medical transports throughout Illinois and Missouri, as well as four other bases in the region.

“Working at Air Methods is amazing. I get to work alongside some of the best pilots, clinicians, and mechanics in the country every day,” said ARCH 1 Lead Pilot Ryan Fretz. “Helicopters can be used for so many different jobs but being able to help your community on a moment’s notice is extremely fulfilling.”

Fretz is a second-generation Air Methods pilot whose father Jon flies for Mercy Air in Mesquite, NV. After seeing the enjoyment that the profession has brought his father for the past 28 years, the younger Fretz knew what he wanted to do.

“I always wanted to follow in his footsteps,” said Fretz, who has been a shining light for the ARCH program since joining Air Methods in 2018 and was named Pilot of the Year in 2021 by the National EMS Pilots Association. “There is never a dull moment. All the unknown variables when the phone rings are what keeps you on your toes and keeps you sharp.”

Air Methods offers attractive benefits, including hard-to-fill position stipends in most locations, sign-on bonuses, competitive salaries, and benefits packages tailored to each position and location. Additionally, Air Methods promotes work-life balance by offering 7-days-on/7-days-off schedules for pilots and other flexible options for clinicians and mechanics.

“We are excited to introduce and showcase Air Methods to potential teammates in St. Louis,” said Air Methods Regional Vice President Rod Pace. “This event provides a great overview of what it means to work for Air Methods, and it gives our recruiters, leadership and crew the opportunity to get to know those who are interested in a life-changing career.”

Air Methods delivers lifesaving care to over 100,000 patients annually nationwide, serving its communities 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Safety is the top priority at Air Methods and the company invests in a strong safety culture that includes an FAA-approved Safety Management System, industry-leading training that includes level D simulators and hiring highly skilled aviation mechanics to ensure aircraft are maintained to the highest standards.
